About the Council
The Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council (SDCC) is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to supporting a connected, inclusive, and thriving neighborhood. We bring neighbors together, support local priorities, and serve as a trusted advocate for the community.
Rather than operating as a single entity, the SDCC functions as a collaborative ecosystem—bringing together neighbors, organizations, leadership, staff, and volunteers to support the neighborhood’s needs and long-term vision.

The SDCC plays an important role in strengthening resident connections and encouraging shared values and priorities. We support neighbor involvement and volunteer leadership while offering free and affordable programs and activities for all ages.
With dedicated members focused on local needs, the SDCC helps reduce reliance on the private sector for responsible development and creates conditions that attract thoughtful private investment. We also foster accountability and open dialogue among elected officials, property owners, business owners, and developers, helping guide development along the neighborhood’s edges.
